In addition to academic subjects the school has provision for Skill Acquisition such as interior Decoration Electrical installation, Plumbing. Hairdressing, Carpentry, Cookery, Sewing, bread baking, Soap making, Shoe making and repairs, etc. Facilities are available for creative and performing arts with abundant opportunities for music choir, band, orchestra, dancing, theater, modeling, horse riding (in the future), debating, etc. Every student must find one or two areas of interest outside curricular activities. We train our students to use their heads, heart and hands-cognitive, affective and psychomotor. The Boarding facilities in MUC create home environment directly supervised by the Principal himself. Seasoned and effective boarding house masters and mistresses will facilitate robust and healthy student to student interpersonal relationship. Even as MUC cannot substitute the student's real homes, it strives to ensure that the students will always see the hostels as an extension of their homes. There are in fact, hostel superintendents whose duties are exclusively that of providing round-the-clock support and supervision for the students. We appreciate the unique trust that parents have in MUC by entrusting the safety and happiness of their wards in our care; be assured that your child is in the hands of committed fathers and mothers. We keep watch over our students with God's supervision, even when they sleep at night. Maduka University College in a concerted effort to provide emotional and parental support for its students has put in place an innovation known as Strategic Family Grouping which places responsibility of supervising each child solely under a group of staff. Our staff are not exclusively for teaching and non-teaching duties: They are for total grooming of students. This arrangement enhances student-student, staff-student, and staff-parent relationship. It also enhances spirit of comradeship within the school community. Parents are able to get authentic information about their wards and the school as one big family. As parents, and educators we are highly conscious of the need for proper navigation of the students, hence the importance we attach to guidance and counselling practice. The School has seasoned and qualified counsellors who have no other duty than to assist the students to find meanings for themselves in the area of Education, Vocation and Personal Social Counselling. We establish a strong communication between the school and the home, which is the basis of our symbiotic relationship with our Parents. Our pastoral care also gives prominence to all by ensuring that students have somebody they can turn to whenever they require emotional support. Teaching is just a tiny aspect of the functions of teachers in this family, so, a teacher has to be responsible for the upkeep of one or more students. The beautiful gates of MUC welcomes the pioneer boys and girls on Saturday 17th September, 2022 to start the process of transforming them to resourceful, mobile, articulate and reliant leaders of tomorrow. Our approach is to develop a total person through a gradual evaluation of the personality; a thorough diagnosis of his/her all round needs (academic, social, emotional, physical, etc) and work together with the young person to produce a well groomed man and woman. The choice of locating MUC at Ekwegbe, Enugu state is deliberate. This vision requires a serene environment very far from pollution and distraction. This is why MUC is occupying a site of about 40** hectares on a flat land in the savannah, enveloped in natural vegetation, amply spacious to create room for sporting activities and extra curricular interests. It provides the students the opportunity to participate in the envisaged "Dignity of labour through agricultural programmes as each student would be expected to contribute towards the success of the School Farm. The logo of the school is composed of a group of people taking solace under a tree and the sun lightening the space. The same depicts harnessing nature for human development and comfort while engaging in constructive learning. FEES Maduka University College is more of philanthropic than profit-making institution and thus the fees are "Student's Need-Induced" The fees are moderate enough to keep the students well fed and healthy, provide instructional materials, pay the staff and keep the plant functioning. Whatever parents pay is to keep their wards adequately in the school. ADMISSIONS Admission to MUC is through a competitive entrance examination that is written at a determined date each year. Emphasis is significantly on merit. Students to be admitted into JSS 1 must have completed primary 6 in the public schools or primary 5 in private schools.
